David Bruce, Head of Newspoll Government and Social

David has over 15  years experience in Social and Market Research, and joined Newspoll as Head of the Government and Social Research team in 2012.  He works extensively in both quantitative and qualitative research domains, and is a skilled workshop facilitator and presenter as well as a researcher. 

His attraction to Social Research has always lain in its fundamental importance as a tool for building a better community around genuinely important issues.  His experience spans topics as diverse as road safety, human rights, national commemorations, emergency communications, advertising standards, water consumption, organisational performance and customer satisfaction.

Bob White, Leading Survey Methodologist

Bob has over 30 years experience in the industry with the Australian Bureau of Statistics and ACNielsen prior to establishing Newspoll’s specialist Government Research unit in 2007.  His expertise is particularly in the design, implementation and analysis of large scale surveys; and in questionnaire design.

Bob has worked across very large social research projects such as national studies on the transition from analogue to digital TV and the national Exercise, Recreation and Sport Survey; as well as numerous other studies where highly considered and rigorous sampling and design is required.

Qualifications: B.Ecoms., Australian National University - M.App Social Research, University of Michigan

Christine Chalmers, Quantitative Specialist and Questionnaire Design Expert

Christine has worked in social and marketing research for over 20 years.  She started her career in Canada and then spent several years working in the UK, but for the past 10 years has been based in Canberra (and since 2007 with Newspoll) consulting to a wide variety of Australian Government departments.

Christine is a qualitative and quantitative researcher, but especially enjoys large-scale quantitative research.  She is an experienced user of SPSS and is accustomed to managing large and complex data sets, including tracking and longitudinal data.  She is a strong believer in the value of cognitive testing of questionnaires and has conducted many cognitive interviews over her career.

Ann-Louise Brockelsby, Experienced Social Researcher

Ann-Louise is the permanent Sydney-based Government and Social researcher.  She leads research with Sydney-based government clients, and works in collaboration with the Canberra researchers.  Ann-Louise provides full market and social research skills from the design stage through to execution and reporting.  She is primarily a quantitative researcher, but also has some qualitative experience.  Ann-Louise has 15+ years experience covering Australia, UK, and New Zealand, dedicated to government and social research, and joined Newspoll in 2009.
