Martin O’Shannessy, Newspoll Chief Executive. Economist and Leading Public Opinion Pollster

Over 20 years senior management experience in market and social research, economics and consulting.

Bachelor of Commerce degree, University of Wollongong majoring in Economics and Industrial Relations, Graduate Certificate in Business Administration specialising in Marketing and Market Research. Previous experience spans human resources, politics, advertising, marketing and general management, including Manager Research and Regulatory Affairs at AANA and senior industry committee roles in advertising and media.

 

John Davis,  one of Australia’s Leading Quantitative Specialists

Bachelor of Economics, University of Sydney with majors in Economic Statistics and Operations Research. Member of the Australian Market and Social Research Society and Qualified Practising Market Researcher (QPMR).Responsible for client servicing, project management and coordinating the client service function in the Sydney office.

Over 25 years experience on both the supplier and client sides of the research industry. Has consulted to a variety of private and public sector organisations, embracing a wide range of research areas, including large scale market sizing, market segmentation, customer satisfaction, employee engagement, advertising tracking,  public opinion polling, deliberative polling, media research, concept testing and usage and attitude studies.

Ryan Williams, Government Specialist and Director of Client Relations

Bachelor of Politics and Government and Bachelor of Communications (majoring in Marketing and Advertising), University of Canberra, Ryan has worked with virtually every Federal Government Department and Agency at some point in the last decade. Prior to joining Newspoll Ryan was a Director at Nielsen, a Director at Ipsos Public Affairs, and manager of Media Monitors in Canberra. Ryan has delivered countless Public Affairs analysis and research projects to Government and perfectly understands the nuances of the Australian Public Service.

Frederic Anne, Telco Expert  and Head of Syndicated Research

Frederic has over 20 years experience in market research  covering Australia and Europe, both client side  and agency side. Frederic attained a Master in Business Administration from Laval  University in Quebec (Canada), specialising in marketing and research.

Prior to joining Newspoll in 2012, Frederic was the director of Market Insights at Telstra and  before this he held several head of research  positions within Vodafone and the Walt Disney Company.  On the agency side, he started his career at TNS in France in charge of sport and sponsorship research.

 

David Bruce,  Social Research Expert and Head of Newspoll Government & Social

David has over 15 years experience in Social and Market Research, and joined Newspoll as Head of the Government and Social Research team in 2012.

He works extensively in both quantitative and qualitative research domains, and is a skilled workshop facilitator and presenter as well as a researcher.

His attraction to Social Research has always lain in its fundamental importance as a tool for building a better community around genuinely important issues. His experience spans topics as diverse as road safety, human rights, national commemorations, emergency communications, advertising standards, water consumption, organisational performance and customer satisfaction.


Amanda Burns, Quant and Omnibus Specialist based in Melbourne

Holds a Bachelor of Commerce with majors in both Marketing and Human Resources Management and a Bachelor of Science with a major in Psychology from Deakin University. Amanda joined Newspoll in 1999 and has gained research experience in a wide range of industries. Specific research areas include brand and advertising tracking, brand usage and attitude studies and venue visitation studies.

 

Lachlan Drummond, Champion in Qualitative and Problem Solving

Lachlan joined Newspoll in 2011, with 15+ years of experience in all aspects of qualitative & quantitative research.

Specialisation in strategic marketing research in a business-to-business setting with significant experience in telecommunications, higher education, building industry, Government, publishing, and retail. Research expertise includes: Brand analysis & positioning, marketing communications, market segmentation & channel strategy, new product development, performance assessment (sales & marketing, service delivery),  market entry strategy, value proposition testing and behavioural economics.

 

Bob White, Leading Survey Methodologist

Bob has over 30 years experience in the industry with the Australian Bureau of Statistics and ACNielsen prior to establishing Newspoll’s specialist Government Research unit in 2007.  His expertise is particularly in the design, implementation and analysis of large scale surveys; and in questionnaire design. Bob has worked across very large social research projects such as national studies on the transition from analogue to digital TV and the national Exercise, Recreation and Sport Survey; as well as numerous other studies where highly considered and rigorous sampling and design is required.
